BLUNDERBUSS FUZZ

$195.00

All the ripping fuzziness you've suspected couldn't exist without ritual human sacrifice. The Blunderbuss Hybrid Fuzz is based on the formidable Musket circuit and formerly a limited edition offering; with an updated graphic in the original teal & red colorway.  Sharing the Musket's DNA, the “Bbuss” utilizes the same layout and control configuration, but with a tonal character all its own.

The Blunderbuss uses hybrid silicon/germanium asymmetrical clipping to achieve an even more crunchy and fuzzy assault, but that's not where the differences end. In all, there are more than a dozen tweaks on the circuit that help differentiate its behavior from the Musket's. The Bbuss is less compressed and more “open” sounding in comparison to the smooth, singing compression of the Musket. It's a less refined sound, more raw and rude, more vintage ripper than the Musket's quasi-fuzz/distortion sound.

A highly tweakable, highly fuzzed up iteration of the vintage muff-type circuit. But why stop at 4 gain stages? 5 is clearly 1 better. The Blunderbuss' added controls over MIDS-shaping, PREamp control, and FOCUSing the sub-low end frequencies address all of the commonly discussed shortcomings of the old 3-knob fuzz.

Like it’s cousin the Musket, the Blunderbuss can be found as one half of our dual fuzz monster, the Special Twosome Deluxe.

STANDOUT FEATURES |

  • PRE – a front end clean boost to slam the fuzz circuit for all kinds of new weirdness. The FUZZ control interacts with it to not only control amount of fuzz, but also sustain and compression.
  • MIDS –  lets you control the tonal flavor of the Blunderbuss from super scooped up to mid-boosted and everything in between. The ability to adjust the MIDS brings a whole new world to the fuzz pedal and will make sure that you are never buried in the mix again.
  • FOCUS – this seemingly subtle control is at the heart of the Blunderbuss’ uniqueness. The FOCUS knob is a pre-fuzz sub-low end control that allows the Blunderbuss to not only produce vintage fuzz, but to also get a more modern quasi-distortion/fuzz flavor with a sharper note attack and better palm muting capability than any other muff-type circuit that we know of.

PLEASE READ |

Wait times: When ordering direct from us understand that sometimes what you’re ordering will be on the shelf, but sometimes we are wiped out of stock by big dealer orders and currently building per-order. When building per-order you can expect your pedal to take at least 2 business days but sometimes up to 2 weeks to build before we’re ready to ship, excluding weekends. If you’re concerned, please contact us prior to ordering to see what we have ready immediately.

Return Policy: Our policy is basically this: if you want the option of returning a perfectly functional pedal please order from one of our dealers instead. We run a skeleton crew of builders and our primary focus is on building pedals. Product returns add a lot of administrative work to our day and in the end takes someone away from concentrating on what we do best. We do offer the option to buy direct from us, but it is more for your convenience and not ours. If the sales process becomes inconvenient or too time consuming for us administratively, it quickly becomes very unprofitable for us. On the other hand, our dealers’ primary focus is on the sales aspect. They employ people to do exactly the things that need to happen to facilitate more complex sales transactions, including product returns, refunds, exchanges, etc. Most of them have very flexible policies, because they have the manpower to do all of that.

Power: We recommend the Visual Sound 1Spot for single space power supplies. We’re not affiliated in any way with Visual Sound, but we do use 1Spots prolifically in our shop so they’re guaranteed to work optimally with our pedals. For $$ power supplies with recommend and use the Pedal Power Plus. Blackout pedals do not use batteries.

Knobs: The knobs that come on your pedal will sometimes vary from the photos provided. If you’re curious about which knobs we’re currently using on a particular pedal please contact us prior to ordering.

Candy: All Blackout pedals currently come with a sticker and a pick (when in stock). Printed manuals are not included. It’s just a waste of paper for something you may look at once, or not at all. All manuals are available on the website in PDF form.
